2 held in connection with lynching of man in Jharkhand

GUMLA (JHARKHAND): Two individuals had been arrested in reference to lynching of a man and injuring 3 others for allegedly reducing flesh from a bull's carcass in Gumla district, police stated Saturday. The incident took place on April 11.

Sanjay Sahu and Jeevan Sahu have been arrested on Friday, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Gumla district, Anjani Kumar Jha stated.


Seven individuals have been identified in reference to the case and efforts are on to trace the opposite five accused, he stated.

The officer stated two FIRs have been lodged in reference to the incident.

The first FIR was once registered against the accused beneath relevant sections of IPC, whilst the second FIR was once lodged against the three injured - Blasius Tirkey, Peter Kerketta and Jamarius Minz - beneath the Jharkhand Bovine Animal Prohibition of Slaughter Act, 2005, the SP stated.

Asked whether the three injured had been arrested, Jha stated they're beneath treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences.


A unique team is investigating the subject, he stated.


A man was once killed and three others have been injured on Thursday after residents of Jurmi village in Jharkhand's Gumla district beat them up, alleging they have been reducing flesh from a bull's carcass.


The deceased has been identified as Prakash Lakra.
