PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: The wooded area division rescued two leopard cubs from a sugar cane field and reunited them with their mom at Valti village close to Manchar in Ambegaon taluka on Wednesday.
This was the second such reunion since Sunday with the wooded area division stepping up the awareness force after 5 leopard cubs were charred in a sugar cane field fire at Gawdewadi village in Ambegaon on April three. A leopard cub was reunited with its mom at Gavhalimala in Narayangaon the town of Ambegaon taluka on April 14.
Manchar range wooded area officer Prajot Palve mentioned some labourers all in favour of slicing sugar cane at a field in Valti, round 10km from Manchar the town, spotted the two cubs on Wednesday morning and alerted the farmland owner.
He mentioned, “The farmland owner got involved with us round 8am. A team of 7 wooded area division group of workers, together with me, reached the spot inside an hour. We determined to reunite the cubs with their mom and deputy conservator of forests Jayarame Gowda guided the operation.”
The wooded area division group of workers fastened a lure digicam to observe the mummy leopard’s actions. “The cubs were saved in a crate within the field. We told the labourers to stop their paintings and vacated the area by way of round 10am. Camera images confirmed that the mummy leopard reached the field round 12pm and took away the cubs.
