COIMBATORE: A 28-year-old guy was arrested on Saturday for murdering his father with an iron rod at Thensangampalayam close to Kottur in Pollachi after a tiff along with his elder brother.
M Jothimani, 55, of Sungam Road at Thensangampalayam, was consuming liquor at his place of abode along with his elder son J Sreedharan, 31, and more youthful son J Rajalingam, when the incident happened. While Jothimani was a day by day salary labourer, his elder son is a welder and more youthful a carpenter.
While consuming alcohol, a wordy quarrel between the sons. When Rajalingam attempted to attack his brother with an iron rod, Jothimani attempted to pacify them however he was accidently assaulted by way of Rajalingam. Later, Rajalingam assaulted Sreedharan and his mom J Eswari, 45, also a day by day salary labourer.
Injured Jothimani went to a government hospital at Kottur where he was treated as outpatient. On the following day after having diner, he developed breathlessness and was taken to the Pollachi govt hospital.
On April 20, he was referred to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where doctors declared him brought lifeless.
The Kottur police registered a case against Rajalingam underneath sections 302, 307 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him On Saturday. He was produced sooner than a judicial Justice of the Peace and remanded in judicial custody on Sunday. Further investigation is on.
