NOIDA: The district management on Monday awarded compensation to 40 Jewar farm house owners for land acquired for the proposed international airport. The money was once transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers belonging to the villages of Ranhera and Parohi, officials said.
Balram Singh, ADM (land acquisition) Gautam Budh Nagar, said that the farm house owners of Ranhera and Parohi had gained compensation. “We will consult with the earmarked land from Tuesday and take possession of land,” he said.
The management had notified 1,239 hectares around the villages for acquisition within the first phase. The notified land is owned by means of 8,971 households, of whom there are 3,627 households whose farming as smartly residential land has been known for acquisition.
District Justice of the Peace BN Singh said the compensation constitutes the land value and rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) benefits. “We have started giving compensation for land to the farm house owners. The R&R benefits can be delivered quickly in a scientific manner,” he said.
ADM Singh said compensation has been awarded to people who have given consent. However, Amit Kumar, a Ranhera resident, said his family, regardless of giving consent, had not gained anything else. “My family owns round 10 acres of land within the village. We did not receive compensation,” he said.
