At a time when all our demands - implementation of Pay Revision Commission (PRC) from July 2018, the abolishment of the contributory pension scheme among others - are pending, making such statements only shows his negligence towards teachers' community," said M Ravinder, president, Telangana Progressive Teachers Federation.


He alleged that the CM is attempting to tarnish the reputation of lecturers and staff so that they don't seem to be welcomed by the public when they protest in opposition to the government. Insisting that they don't seem to be paid higher than lecturers from AP, lecturers wondered the CM's silence at the factor of salaries doled out to ministers in the state. Teachers claimed that it used to be they (the ministers) who're actually drawing upper salaries when compared to ministers from other states in India.


"We demand that the chief minister withdraws his words as they have caused immense pain to the entire teachers' community. We also want him to solve all the pending problems of teachers that are left unaddressed since the formation of the state," said D Sanjiv Rao of Telangana State United Teachers Federation.


Teachers said that he can not question them at the number of trainer unions in the state as this can be a democratic country.
