PUNE: Bhosari police on Friday arrested a 40-year-old autorickshaw driving force from Dapodi in Maharashtra's Pune district for sexually harassing a 16-year-old girl and threatening to throw acid on her face if she revealed anything about the incident to her folks.
An officer from the Bhosari police said that the suspect and the complainant keep in the same locality. On Thursday, around 6pm, when the lady had gone to the marketplace near her house, the suspect started following her. “When she was buying one thing from a seller, the suspect touched her inappropriately,” the officer said.
The suspect then threatened the lady that he would throw acid on her face if she instructed her folks about the incident. “The girl, however, knowledgeable her mom as the suspect had previous adopted her a couple of instances when she was on her strategy to faculty,” the officer said.
The suspect has been arrested under sections 354 (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), 506 (felony intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and the related sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A probe has revealed that the suspect used to apply the lady in his autorickshaw on her strategy to faculty. A grievance has been filed towards him by way of the lady’s mom.
