The Vice-President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, introduced the ‘Presidential Award of Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman’ to Dr.Shankar Rajaraman, the well known Bengaluru-based Sanskrit poet, lately in New Delhi. He was honoured with Rs 1,00,00zero and a certificates from the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. He was conferred the award for his remarkable contribution in the box of Sanskrit language and literature.
The Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman, named after sage Veda Vyasa, the illustrious creator of Mahabharata, is a Presidential award, instituted via the Government of India in 2002, to honour younger scholars, aged 30-45 years, in recognition in their significant contribution to classical Indian languages. The distinction is conferred yearly in recognition of considerable contribution in the box of Sanskrit, Persian, and so forth.
