BMC's statutory committees sees change of guard

MUMBAI: A brand new set of chairpersons of statutory bodies of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) used to be elected unopposed for 365 days on Wednesday, with the BJP, Shiv Sena's ally, opting for not to occupy any of these posts.
Except Yashwant Jadhav, whom the Sena renominated as standing committee chairman, the other 3 key panels got new heads.

Anil Patankar used to be elected as BEST committee chairman, Anjali Naik as schooling committee head and Sadanand Parab as growth committee chairman.

All of them have been Sena nominees.

Parab changed Dilip Lande, who had drawn flak for his choice to allow deletion of reservations on certain plots in the city at the ground that they'd been encroached upon.

City BJP leader Ashish Shelar refused to comment as to why the BJP didn't search any of the four key posts.

A senior corporator from the BJP, then again, stated, "Our leadership has decided to continue to act as watchdogs, so we will keep a hawk's eye on the administration."
