Campaign material gutted near Dumad

VADODARA: Campaign subject matter of BJP was gutted after the truck which was wearing the material caught fire at the limited-access highway close to Dumad crossroads on Saturday afternoon.

The truck, stuffed with scarves, flags, flex banners and many more marketing campaign fabrics, was on its manner from Bapunagar in Ahmedabad to Surat. Around 1.30 pm when the truck crossed the toll plaza at the limited-access highway, smoke was observed billowing from its container. On seeing the smoke, commuters alerted the driver, who stopped his car in the middle of the street.


As soon because it was informed, the fire-brigade dispatched two fire engines from TP13 fire station and emergency response centre and fire opponents moved the truck to the aspect of the street and unloaded the burning fabrics from the truck prior to it will unfold to the gas tank. However, the truck’s cabin had already been engulfed through flames through then.


“The marketing campaign subject matter was made of artificial and cotton subject matter due to which the fire unfold impulsively and we had to remove it,” said fire officer Om Jadeja of TP13 fire station. He added that the firefighters took around 30 mins to douse the fire. “Later we known as the police and in step with protocol also informed the election officers as marketing campaign subject matter of a political party had caught fire,” Jadeja said. Fire officers suspect over-heating of the engine may have sparked the fire.


The truck belonged to a non-public transporter from Ahmedabad and the driver didn't have any documents of the products. The shipping corporate’s manager later reached the spot and gave a remark to the police in reference to the incident.
