SURAT: First world chartered flight from Surat to Turkey division from the Surat airport on the early morning hours of Saturday. Diamond baron of Kiran Gems, Vallabh Lakhani had chartered the Turkish airline, Atlas Global for the family members and relations to wait the marriage rite in Turkey’s Antalya.
Official sources stated that the diamond workforce had booked the Airbus of Atlas Global from Kayseri in Turkey to ferry 218 passengers, which included relations, friends and family members from Surat. This was once the primary world chartered flight from Surat. The flight arrived on the scheduled time and that it departed at about 2.30 am. The similar flight will go back to Surat on April 24.
Lakhani, chairman of Kiran Gems, which is one of the world’s five main diamond firms, may be brains at the back of the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB). Mathur Savani, spokesperson of SDB and close confidant of Vallabh Savani told TOI, “This is first time that the world flight charted in international nation landed in Surat.”
