RAJKOT: Senior Congress chief Ahmed Patel on Saturday lashed out on the Narendra Modi-led govt for employing ‘double requirements’ when it got here to preventing terrorism.

The Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat slammed the BJP for fielding a candidate, who criticized the officials who laid down their life preventing terrorists.


Patel was once talking in Rajkot in reference to BJP's Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate Pragya Singh Thakur, an accused within the 2008 Malegaon blast case, claiming that former Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) leader Hemant Karkare died within the 26/11 Mumbai assaults as she had “cursed” him.

“Our forces fought the terrorists and caught (Ajmal) Kasab alive. But what Sadhvi Pragya Thakur is doing is tagging the individual (Karkare) who was once martyred in that attack as anti-national. The BJP provides price tag to such (Thakur) individuals?” Patel instructed media individuals.

“This clearly presentations the double requirements of BJP. On one hand you discuss preventing terrorism and at the different you are criticizing those who are preventing terrorism. There is very large difference between what the BJP preaches and what it in fact does,” the AICC treasurer added.

“The terrorists got here to Mumbai crossing Gujarat’s sea. What was once the Gujarat govt doing then? On the opposite hand, our leader minister and Union home minister resigned after the attack,” Patel said.

Patel slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the way he ran the federal government on the Centre. Further on, he forecast that when May 23, when the Lok Sabha election effects are introduced, Modi can be ex-PM.

The senior Congress chief was once assured that his birthday party will get majority within the common election, whilst he forecast simplest 150-160 seats for the ruling BJP which might go up to 200 including its alliance companions.

“People of all the classes including farmers, buyers, small-scale industrialists and others are dissatisfied with the BJP. When the ruling govt is supposed to present the account of its five years, it is asking Congress to present account of its rule,” Patel quipped.

Regarding the attack on Patidar chief Hardik Patel, who not too long ago joined Congress, Ahmed Patel said, “It was once a plan to demoralize Hardik, who's campaigning towards BJP. The BJP will have to have countered Hardik on problems. It is not truthful to attack him psychically.”


While in Rajkot, the senior Congress chief also met member of the erstwhile royal family of Rajkot Thakorsaheb Mandhatasingh Jadeja, who's with the BJP.
