Tirupur: Farmers and assistant engineers of the public works division (PWD) have instructed the district management to arrest an AIADMK functionary for issuing existence danger to PWD government while they had been regulating irrigation underneath the Parambikulam Aliyar Project (PAP).
More than 500 farmers laid a siege to the collectorate in the city on Monday condemning the police division for failing to arrest the accused.

AE Balasubramanian and sluice operators, along with farmers, found that many farmers have illegally erected pipes in the canals in numerous places and stole water, seriously affecting the tail-end farmers. So, the PWD personnel marked spots the place the pipes had been fixed illegally. Gokulakrishnan, an AIADMK functionary, of Rudravathi intimidated Balasubramanian and issued existence danger to him, a police officer mentioned.
