Fervour & gaiety mark Ram Navami in Patna

PATNA: Ram Navami, which marks the delivery of Lord Ram, was celebrated with spiritual fervour and exuberance across the town on Saturday.

Devotees thronged temples within the morning to seek blessing of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Special assemblies had been organised in temples for kirtans and recitation of verses from Ramayana via the monks.


Amid the chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Jai Siya Ram’, 39 embellished shobha yatras had been taken out from various portions of Patna, including Digha, Machhuatoli, Bazaar Samiti, Raja Bazaar, Boring Road, Pataliputra, Police Line, Mahendru, Nehru Nagar and Bans Ghat.

The jhankis or shobha yatras had been embellished via artists from Kolkata and Jharkhand. They depicted a number of events from Lord Ram’s life ranging from Ram Darbar, Ashok Vatika, Sanjivani Buti, Ayodhya, Vanvaas, Panchavati and Kevat. After assembling at Dak Bungalow roundabout, the members, carrying saffron flags and carrying headbands, reached Hanuman Mandir close to Patna Junction.

BJP MLA Nitin Naveen, some of the organisers of shobha yatra, mentioned large collection of people participated within the spiritual procession. “Local singers additionally enthralled the target market with their devotional songs,” he added.


The artists dressed as Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, Hanuman, Lord Shiva and Parvati had been the principle appeal of the jhankis.


At Hanuman Mandir, a serpentine queue of devotees was seen since Friday midnight. As quickly as the temple was thrown open round 2am, devotees paid obeisance to Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman.


According to Mahavir Sthan Nyas Samiti, 18,000kg of Naivedyam ladoo had been bought on the temple. At least 3 lakh devotees visited the temple.
