Attingal: The district rural police arrested a gang of five for allegedly pledging pretend gold embellishes with 3 different financial institutions and taking loans amounting to Rs 6 lakh. The police recognized the accused as Raheem (30) hailing from Kadakkal; Navas alias Bahadur (55) and Alifudheen (59) both residents of Pallickal; Aslam (20) of Madavoor; and Akbar (20) a resident of Seemanthapuram.
According to sub-inspector V Gangaprasad of Pallickal police station, the police had launched a probe when they received a criticism of cheating from Muthoot Finance Ltd, Pallickal, on April 17, 2019.
“In the criticism they stated that they gave the accused loans after the evaluators certified the gold as pure. As according to their remark the embellishes looked to be new and pure, even modern apparatus failed to spot its purity.
