Goa Dairy’s board back in saddle after Bombay HC order

PONDA: After successful the felony fight in courtroom, Goa Dairy’s board of administrators, headed by way of its chairman Rajesh K Phaldessai, will take over its reins on Tuesday.

The dairy’s affairs is these days being looked after by way of an administrator appointed by way of the state government. The registrar of cooperative societies had disqualified seven of the dairy’s administrators on August 31, 2018.


A department bench of the prime courtroom of Bombay at Goa, comprising Justice R D Dhanuka and Justice Prithviraj K Chavan, not too long ago put aside the disqualification of the directors. The bench has also directed the registrar to listen to the directors inside of 4 months and issue a contemporary order, accordingly.


Then registrar, Sanjiv Gadkar, had disqualified the seven administrators, Dhananjay Desai, Vithoba Desai, Baburao Desai, Naresh Malik, Gokuldas Parab, Madhav Sahakari and Rajendra Sawant to continue as contributors of the Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union also referred to as as Goa Dairy below Section 59 (11) of the Goa Cooperative Act with instant effect holding them liable for the discrepancies in the working of the dairy.


The order had also appointed Damodar Morajkar as administrator over the dairy and had directed him to suspend the managing director, N C Sawant, holding him liable for the irregularities and mismanagement of the milk union. Services of the managing director have been then suspended accordingly.


Stating that they weren't heard sooner than issuing the order, several contributors of the board, including the disqualified administrators and the managing director, had moved the courtroom in search of quashing of the order. Morajkar used to be later replaced by way of deputy commissioner of commercial tax, Santosh Kundaikar, on January 28.


Goa Dairy’s administrators will take charge on Tuesday. The prime courtroom order has also put aside the suspension of its managing director N C Sawant, and he'll resume charge as well.
