Junagadh MP faces people’s ire in Sutrapada village

Rajkot: Sitting MP and Junagadh BJP candidate, Rajesh Chudasama, needed to beat a hasty retreat after dealing with stiff opposition from folks all through campaigning in a village of Sutrapada in Gir-Somnath district on Tuesday night.
Videos of folks protesting in opposition to Chudasama’s presence were doing the rounds on social media on Wednesday.

Chudasama had come to wait spiritual function in Bhuvatimbi village that used to be to be followed via the normal Lok Dayro programme via native artistes. The programme used to be organized via Karadiya Rajput neighborhood and chief priest of the temple. However, once Chudasama arrived on the level, folks began shouting slogans. Some of them even hurled a water bottle and pillows on the dais.

In the video, the announcer is observed desperately pleading to the folks to take their seats and refrain from unruly behaviour. At one level of time, the annoyed announcer could also be heard invoking native deity Bhawani Mata asking folks to maintain calm. But his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Sources said members of Karadiya Rajput neighborhood are hostile to Chudasama’s renomination for Junagadh seat. Before Chudasama, the seat used to be held via tainted former MP Dinu Solanki, who also belongs to Karadiya Rajput neighborhood.

Eyewitnesses said that nearly five,000 folks had gathered at the venue and resorted to the protest. Ultimately, native BJP leaders needed to take Chudasama out from the back aspect of the level.


Talking to mediapersons later, Chudasama said, “It’s a very unlucky incident. I went there as I was invited via the organizers. I've extensively utilized my grant for the advance work of the temple.”


According to sources, the protest sparked stress in some villages as Kolis began grouping in opposition to Karadiya neighborhood members. While Karadiyas are in opposition to Chudasama, Kolis are staunch supporters of the MP.


This is the now not the primary time that Chudasama needed to face folks’s ire. Before few days, folks in Shepa village of Mangrol taluka also protested in opposition to the MP when had long past there to marketing campaign and deal with a public accumulating. Shepa citizens had complained that the MP had now not visited village in the past 5 years and didn’t fulfil his promises.
