No bail for Prajapati in gangrape case

Allahabad: Special court (MP and MLA) on Friday rejected the bail utility of former UP cabinet minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati in a gang rape case during which he is the primary accused.
Rejecting the bail utility of Prajapati, particular judge Pawan Kumar Tiwari stated that the petitioner is the primary accused in the matter. “The proof of a few witnesses are still to be taken up. The petitioner may affect the trial. Hence, taking into the gravity of the offence, the bail cannot be granted to him,” the court added.

District executive counsel (felony) Gulab Chandra Agrahri stated that earlier at one level all over the trial lawsuits, the cross-examination of the survivor lady had taken position. The proof of other witnesses would also be taken up all over the process trial, he added.

Earlier, a distinct POCSO court had framed fees in opposition to Prajapati and 6 different co-accused in the gang rape case. The court had charged Gayatri and co-accused Vikas, Ashish, Ashok Amrendra, Chandrapal and Rupeshwar underneath sections 376 (D), 354A(1), 509, 504 and 506 of IPC. Gayatri, Vikas, Ashish and Ashok have additionally been charged underneath phase five(G) read with phase 6 of the POSCO Act.


The lady had lodged an FIR with Gautampalli police of Lucknow on February 18, 2017, at the direction of the Supreme Court. Later, the investigating officer filed a chargesheet in opposition to the accused persons, together with Prajapati.
