MUMBAI: Ending days of suspense over the most likely birthday party nominee from Mumbai North East Lok Sabha seat, the BJP on Wednesday dropped sitting MP Kirit Somaiya + whose renomination used to be strongly adversarial by way of the birthday party ally Shiv Sena.
The BJP has fielded Brihanmumbai Municiapl Corporation (BMC) corporator Manoj Kotak in place of Somaiya, a known baiter of Sena president Uddhav Thackeray.
Kotak, who is the crowd leader of the BJP in the civic body, would tackle Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate and former MP Sanjay Dina Patil, who had lost to Somaiya in the 2014 elections.
Somaiya is the one BJP MP to be dropped by way of the birthday party which is contesting 3 out of total six seats spanning the island city and suburbs in Mumbai. The Sena is contesting on leisure 3 constituencies as per a seat-sharing deal between the two events.
Kotak's candidature came as a blow to Somaiya who has already began preparations for contesting the seat.
Sena leaders are staunchly towards Somaiya's renomination for his caustic remarks directed on the birthday party brass.
In the run-up to the 2017 BMC elections, which the BJP and the Sena had contested one at a time, Somaiya had talked about "mafia of Bandra". The remarks had been seemed to be directed at Sena president Uddhav Thackeray whose resident "Matoshree" is located in suburban Bandra.
Sena workers had even threatened not to campaign for the BJP if Somaiya used to be repeated from the constituency.
Sena MLA from Bhandup constituency Sunil Raut had announced to contest as an Independent if Somaiya used to be given price tag again.
Commenting on denial of price tag to Somaiya, BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari stated all selections associated with fielding candidates are taken by way of the birthday party's Central ParliamentaryBoard.
"A lot of thought process goes into selection of a candidate. Only our national president can comment over why Somaiyaji is not fielded this time," Bhandari stated.

Tawde, the MLA from Borivli in North Mumbai, stated Somaiya would be "adequately compensated" by way of the birthday party in view of his seniority.
He clarified that the Sena had not anything to do with the move to switch Somaiya.
A supply in the BJP stated a bit of birthday party workers too didn't want Somaiya to contest, as he has stored a distance from them.
"There was unrest against him since he supported realignment of Ghatkopar--Kasarvadavali metro line which passes through residential areas, instead of running it close to the Eastern Express Highway," he stated.
