MANGALURU: It was once an early upward push for nearly 500 other folks in and around Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. They rushed to the top submit place of business on Old Taluk Office Road as early as 6am to collect their token for Aadhaar registration. The submit place of business doubles as Aadhaar enrolment and correction centre.
People of Puttur town were taken through wonder on seeing lengthy queues out of doors the submit place of business, and those status in the queue began questioning if the place of business team of workers would if truth be told give them tokens or they've fallen prey to a prank on April 1.
A lady status in the queue stated: “Tokens might be issued through the submit place of business team of workers once the counter opens. The enrolment and correction are executed as consistent with serial numbers. Fearing that we won't get tokens, we reached the submit place of business before 6am.”
Equipped with the token, other folks must visit the submit place of business on a specific date and time and get their Aadhaar-related work executed. The submit place of business can attend to around 20-25 other folks on a daily basis. Initially, the tokens were issued day-to-day, and those that did not get them had to go back empty-handed. After seeing heavy rush for the tokens, the authorities in March determined to factor the tokens on one particular day in a month. With April 1 being the first the day of the new arrangement, a big number other folks assembled at the submit place of business at the break of day itself.
Jagadish Pai, senior superintendent of posts (Puttur submit place of business), instructed newshounds that the dep. didn't face problems like in the earlier months. “Everyone has been given a fixed date, and the time for Aadhaar enrolment. Fearing that people won't get tokens, they got here in large numbers early in the morning. Despite being short-staffed, we tried our absolute best to solve the problem. The next date of issuing tokens will soon be announced. The facility may be available at Sullia, Belthangady, Bantwal, Moodabidri and Karkala submit places of work of Puttur department,” he added.
Due to tool problems in March, the dep. had stopped issuing Aadhaar playing cards. However, the problem has been rectified now.
Meanwhile on Sunday, the government prolonged the time limit for linking PAN with biometric ID Aadhaar through six months till September 30.
