Thiruvananthapuram: The district administration has imposed a ban on plastic in spaces inside 100 metres around polling stations on Tuesday. The resolution was taken as a part of introducing green protocol for election. The spaces have also been declared as tobacco-free for the first time.
There might be ban on flex boards, plastic bags, plastic cups, plastic plates , etc. Distribution of food and water in plastic boxes too might be prohibited. The polling will start at 7am and will conclude at 6pm.
Assistant returning officer, electoral registration officer and volunteers of Haritha Keralam and Suchitwa Mission will evaluate the observance of green protocol. Police and NSS volunteers will track all polling stations, stated district collector Okay Vasuki. Green protocol has been in effect since the preliminary days of the ballot campaign. The directive not to use flex boards was received smartly by means of all candidates in the fray in Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal.
The ballot process will start in all booths with mock polling scheduled at 6am. The polling agents of all events might be allowed to take part in mock polling. Agents will solid votes on EVM and make sure that the vote solid at the digital system is similar that is displayed at the VVPAT. Agents of political events will word down the selection of votes polled. After mock ballot, the selection of votes discussed in the paper and in the system might be reviewed. There are 2,715 polling booths in the district. Of those, around 835 are known as sensitive booths. The district administration has arranged special security features in those booths. Around 97 had been known as extraordinarily essential booths. There might be webcasting from 132 polling stations and micro observers had been deployed in 129 polling booths.
Voting machines might be shifted to the counting centre at Mar Ivanios College, Nalanchira, after voting. The machines might be stored at the highly secured robust rooms at the college till May 23. Central forces might be deployed at the college for safety. Surveillance measures including CCTVs have been presented.
Public can call to collectorate keep an eye on room for all issues associated with Lok Sabha elections. Voters in Thiruvananthapuram constituency can call to 0471-2731022 and those from Attingal can call 0471-2731122.
