Poorva Express derailment: Inquiry begins, 40 staffers record statements

ALLAHABAD: The inquiry of the Poorva Express derailment commenced with the visit of railway protection commissioner, North Eastern Circle, A Ok Jain on Tuesday.
The railway protection commissioner visited Rooma station along with divisional railway manager Amitabh, principal chief protection officer S Ok Kashyap and different officials.


The commissioner and officers performed extensive inspection of station backyard, track and coaches, wheel, coupling, under-gear and many others, mentioned public relation officer, NCR, Amit Malviya.

The train had derailed after passing Rooma station on Saturday midnight between Allahabd-Kanpur phase of Allahabad division. Total of 12 coaches (S8, S9, PC, HA1, B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, A1, A2, SLR), together with 10 passenger coaches, one pantry automotive and one SLR of Delhi-bound 12303 Poorva Express had derailed. Both Up and Down line operations have been interrupted because of the accident.


After visiting Rooma station, the commissioner reached the training depot of Kanpur central station where he inspected the derailed coaches S8 and S9 and couplings of Poorva Express.


About 40 employees lodged their presence and gave written statements. The official additionally recorded the statements of Loco pilot of the train Phool Kumar and Raman Singh and loco inspector Ok C Pandey.


The inquiry would proceed on April 24, mentioned the PRO.
