AEPC invites exporters to take part in Tokyo expo

Tirupur: The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has invited knitwear exporters to participate in the fifth edition of the ‘India Trend Fair’ (ITF) in Tokyo, Japan, from July 24 to July 26.

“Japan is one of the primary importers of readymade clothes (RMG). It has imported items value $28440million in 2018. Despite being one of the most greatest exporters of RMG, India exports items to Japan lesser than 1% of the latter’s overall import price,” deputy director of AEPC C Eswarasundar said. India has previous signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Japan for exporting RMG. It was a rare benefit to be had for Indian RMG exporters because they don’t have such business agreement with lots of the primary importers. Therefore, enormous possible exists for increasing our textiles and garment exports to Japan, he said.


ITF is an exclusive ‘business matching match’ which might give a chance to exporters to show off their merchandise and provide features of value-added merchandise with special emphasis on the merchandise designed to fit Japanese type trends and necessities, he said.


Meanwhile, the AEPC has also invited the exporters to utilize another alternative of participating in Hong Kong type week, which is the second one greatest type exhibition in the world. The type week is scheduled between July eight and July 11 in Hong Kong.


The Union trade ministry would supply financial help underneath the ‘Market Access Initiative’ for the exporters who take part in the global business fairs. Meanwhile, the AEPC has written to the ministry to reimburse air fares of the exporters who will take part in Hong Kong type week.
