RANCHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to cope with election rallies in Jharkhand on April 26, birthday party leaders said here on Sunday. His visit shall be 3 days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rally in state on April 23.
Though an reliable announcement is yet to be made, Congress’s state unit said Gandhi will cope with two election rallies in Khunti and Singbhum parliamentary constituencies. Khunti will go to vote on May 6 whilst Singbhum will forged its ballots on May 12.
The birthday party’s state media mobile chairman, Rajesh Thakur, informed TOI, “We have invited Rahul Ji in Jharkhand to campaign for our applicants. His workplace spoke to the state leadership on Saturday and sought a preferable date, which was conveyed.” He added, “Our birthday party chief is likely to visit that state on April 26.”
Rahul had visited the state and performed a pre-poll rally at Morhabadi Ground here on March 2. His rally was attended by leaders Hemant Soren, working president of JMM and Babulal Marandi, the manager of JVM-P.
A senior birthday party leader said Rahul’s visit being designed to the touch tribal wallet in Jharkhand. He said, “Tribal communities in Jharkhand are miffed with the BJP govt’s transfer to tamper with CNT and SPT Acts by introducing amendment bills, attacking missionaries and enforcing laws in opposition to conversion. Rahul’s meetings in Khunti and Singbhum will give birthday party applicants an edge over there,” he added.
Rahul, his sister and AICC basic secretary Priyanka Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Union minister Jairam Ramesh and a battery of senior leaders were made big name campaigners by the birthday party for Jharkhand. Congress is contesting in seven out of 14 parliamentary seats in Jharkhand below an alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), JVM-P and RJD.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may also be addressing an election rally in Lohardaga on April 24 to canvass for BJP candidate Sudarshan Bhagat, who could also be a minister in the outgoing Union cupboard. On April 23, Modi will grasp a road show in Ranchi and camp here for the night time.
