Ludhiana: Ludhiana and Khanna are among the top five police districts in the state that have witnessed most seizure of money, guns and poppy husk up to now one month since the fashion code of conduct was imposed around the nation.
Punjab Police up to now one month (March 10 to April 10) have seized a complete of Rs 18.98 crore in money. Other seized items, together with gold, heroin, liquor and other valuables, are worth Rs 150 crore. Police had seized 1.7 lakh litre liquor, 830 kg ganja, 48 kg heroin and 4,376 kg poppy husk.
As a ways as money seizure is worried, Khanna has topped the state with a complete of Rs 10.63 crore, followed through Patiala Rs 2.22 crore, Mohali (SAS Nagar) Rs 1.37 crore, Batala Rs 1.13 crore and Gurdaspur Rs 75 lakh.
Further in restoration of poppy husk, Hoshiarpur is on top with 814 kg, followed through Fatehgarh Sahib 511 kg, Jalandhar 379 kg, Sangrur 310 kg. Ludhiana is 5th on the list with 297.5 kg.
In the category of guns, Batala police have seized most guns (15), followed Jalandhar and Tarn Taran (nine), Ludhiana (7) and Roopnagar (6).
Additional director basic of police R N Dhoke, who is the nodal officer, in-charge election cellular of Punjab Police for Lok Sabha elections, stated, “All the police commissioners and senior superintendent of police offices in Punjab have been directed to post a record of restoration of money, liquor, gold, medicine on a daily basis until the elections. In the previous one month (from March 10 to April 10), we've seized Rs 18.98 crore in money and valuables worth Rs 150 crore in the state.”
Among police districts in Ludhiana, the utmost money has been seized in Khanna Rs 10.98 crore, followed through Ludhiana commissionerate (Rs 14.28 lakh) and Jagraon (Rs 12.16 lakh).
Ludhiana police have seized a most of seven guns, Jagraon four and Khanna 1.
Ludhiana has recovered very best 2.646 kg heroin, Khanna 2.620 kg and Jagraon 257g heroin.
