Thane: 2 guards held for bid to kill lab assistant of educational institute

THANE: Two security guards were arrested for allegedly making an attempt to kill a lab assistant of an educational institute in Thane district of Maharashtra, police said on Monday.

The two accused, Ganesh Verma (25) and Laxman Togre (27), had an argument over some issue in the institute's premises on Monday evening, Kasarwadavali police station's inspector AE Kaldate said.


When the lab assistant, Rajiv Kumar Bhagat (32), attempted to intervene, the accused got offended and allegedly hit him with an earthen flower pot, he said.

The sufferer gained injuries and fell unconscious, he said, adding that the accused left him there, locked the premises and fled.

When a workforce member of the institute went there past due in the evening, he discovered the premises locked and the security guards absent from accountability, the professional said.


He then approached any other guard and took keys of the institute from him, he said.


On opening the premises, he discovered the sufferer lying unconscious and rushed the sufferer to a government sanatorium.


The sufferer used to be later shifted to a sanatorium in neighbouring Mumbai the place his situation used to be reported to be serious, the professional said.


Based on a grievance filed via the workforce member, the police arrested the 2 accused and registered offences in opposition to them under Indian Penal Code Section 307 (attempt to murder), he added.
