Three arrested with 86 looted phones

SURAT: Three individuals have been arrested for allegedly snatching and promoting looted cell phones from people from an area underneath the limits of Athwa police station here on Saturday. Police recovered 86 cell phones value Rs7.74 lakh from the accused, who used to tamper with their IMEI quantity to be sure that they were not traced thru digital surveillance.

Vijay Naiyaran, 19, Ankur alias Rahul Ray, 23, and Mohammad Noor alias Lalu Cyclewala, 21, have been arrested by way of police from Bhaga Talav area underneath Athwa police station limits. Naiyaran and Ray arrived there in an autorickshaw to promote six phones which they had snatched from people in several portions of the city up to now few days.


The duo was once looking to promote the cell phones to Cyclewala when police, who had specific details about the gang, nabbed them. Police recovered 80 cell phones all through investigation from Cyclewala. They are actually trying to find out from whom Cyclewala had bought the cell phones. He has up to now failed to supply paperwork for the cell phones.


“The accused have been nabbed after they came to promote the looted phones. We are yet to investigate how Cyclewala used to promote the looted cell phones to customers, his reference to the gang and likewise about tampering with their IMEI quantity,” mentioned a police officer of Athwa police station.


The accused used to clutch cell phones from people on street whilst driving a bike, police mentioned.
