AGRA: In a bid to crack a whip on the ongoing protest via a group of PhD aspirants against the alleged irregularities in the admission process to doctorate classes, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Thursday debarred seven of the protestors from taking admission in any course for 3 academic periods including 2018-19.
The college's resolution resulted in additional protest with scholars from college, including its union's president and secretary extending beef up to the protestors and dubbing the VC, Tariq Mansoor, as "sanghi" and anti scholars. Agitated via the bar imposed on the seven PhD aspirants, college scholars took out a protest march on Thursday night time and raised slogans of "inqulab murdabad".
One of the debarred aspirants, Aquib Khursheed, stated that the VC was performing as a "sanghi" as he was favouring few scholars under the drive of native BJP leaders. Khursheed alleged that the VC had authorized the admission of BJP MP Satish Gautam's candidate in Hindi department without following due process.
Expressing identical perspectives, an aggrieved woman Phd aspirant alleged that the management had given admission to the candidates, who had no longer even stuffed the paperwork or gave the impression for an interview. She stated that the admission process was mistaken and will have to be made transparent and the management should disclose the process. "If they have nothing to conceal, they should be open about the process and not act like dictators", she stated.
According to a realize issued to seven Phd aspirants, Daud Baig, Mohd Faraz, Mohd Nazim, Mohd Abid Seikh, Adil Wali Farooqui, Aquib Khurshid and Asif Ali, all of them were debarred from taking additional admission in any process the college for 2018-19 and in addition for next two academic periods. "The university campus and its maintained institutions are also placed out of bound for these seven Phd aspirants with immediate effect," learn realize.
The realize, which was issued via the proctor of the college, Prof Mohd Mohsin Khan, mentioned that the college had earlier issued an advisory and notices to remove the illegal dharna staged via Phd aspirants at the major gate of Administrative block. "Instead of removing the unlawful dharna, they were trying to pressurise the administration to give them admission without being selected for the same, which is a violation of the university's admission rules," learn realize.
It was also mentioned that their unlawful process disturbed the peaceful setting of the college.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning, Mohd Asif, who sat on indefinite hunger strike from May 1 was removed from dharna web page via and admitted to AMU's clinical school.
