RBU post-graduate lynched in rigging row

KOLKATA: Tragedy blurred the political divide on Monday as grieving families tried to return to terms with their private tragedies.
In Shantipur’s Sarbanandapara, a55-year-old mom used to be seeking to come to terms with the brutal homicide of her 27-year-old son, a history postgraduate from Rabindra Bharati University, whose quest for a central authority activity were given him to politics, and the Trinamool Congress. About 185km away, a 17-year-old used to be mourning the dying of his parents — both CPM supporters — charred to dying of their sleep at their Kakdwip home.

Leela Pramanik, who, at the side of her husband, weaves fabrics to eke out a residing, had spent most of their existence struggling to fund their son Sanjit’s education. “His quest for a central authority activity lured him to the Trinamool. He did abnormal errands for the native MLA, writing letters and certificates. He informed us the MLA has assured him of a strong activity,” she said. He left home remaining night time. “We had been strongly towards him joining politics. We again and again cautioned him. But the promise of a task lured him to politics. Now, he has paid together with his existence,” she added, choking up.

According to police sources, Sanjit and 5 others rode on two bikes and reached the 2 polling booths at Babla Primary School at Santipur’s Sardarpara. It used to be alleged they'd tried to intimidate locals and attempted to rig the polls. It used to be then that their political fighters, mostly tribal, armed with arrows, spears and weapons, attacked them. By the time police rescued them and took them to hospital, Sanjit had died.


In Kakdwip, Dipankar Das (17) had returned home after middle of the night. The faculty dropout who works for a catering agency had a wedding to attend the night time ahead of. He says even from afar that he could see his Budakhali home up in flames. In the flames, he claims to have spotted two or 3 folks scampering away. Fearing the worst, he screamed for lend a hand. The locals helped him to douse the flames, but they had been too late. His parents Deb Prasad Das (50) and Usha (45) — both native CPM workers — had been charred to dying of their sleep. “They had been murdered because they had been CPM supporters,” Dipankar said. Police, on the other hand, said they had been probing whether they died of electrocution.


Not a ways away in Kultali, Zarina Biwi refused to accept her widowed standing. Zarina said her husband, a Trinamool supporter, had simply stepped out of home to solid his vote when he used to be killed. Arif Hussain Gazi (35) used to be stuck in a political crossfire between supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress and SUCI.


In Murshidabad, 27-year-old Khokon Mondal said he had warned his uncle, a BJP worker, about being careful. “Today, he paid the associated fee,” he said. Tapan Mondal (55) used to be killed in a cross-fire as armed political activists chased BJP supporters out of doors a booth in Beldanga’s Kumarpur. “Our family used to be depending on his agricultural source of revenue. We are ruined ,” he said.


In Nowda’s Patikabari, Tanjila Bibi said he had tried to prevent her 26-year-old son about meddling in politics. Shine Sheikh used to be killed in bombing when he used to be escorting an aged voter inside of a booth. “I had warned my son not to again the revolt Trinamool candidate when an excessively robust candidate have been post through the authentic birthday party,” Tanjila said.
