Imam gets life in jail for raping minor in Bokaro

Bokaro/Ranchi: In two separate incidents, an Imam was sentenced to lifestyles imprisonment for raping a minor woman while every other man was awarded seven years in prison for raping a lady in two other parts of the state.
In the primary case, the court of particular Pocso pass judgement on, Justice Ramesh Chandra, on Thursday sentenced Zakir Hussain (40) to lifestyles imprisonment and imposed a positive of Rs 50,000 on him for raping a Class VIII woman. Hussain was the Imam of the madrassa where the woman studied. The court held him to blame below segment 4 and six of POCSO Act.

The case towards Zakir was registered at Bengabad police station in Giridih on September 1, 2017. The complainant had alleged that he raped her 4 occasions at madrassa while claiming he loved her.

Additional public prosecutor, Ajay Kumar, mentioned the convict is already married. He mentioned, “The court awarded lifestyles imprisonment to and slapped Rs 50,000 positive on Hussain for outraging modesty of a minor woman.”


In the second incident, a local court in Ranchi sentenced a man to seven years in jail for raping a lady below Khalari police station house of Ranchi district. A positive of Rs 20,000 was also slapped at the convict with the provision that he would undergo additional imprisonment of six months for default in payment.


“Additional judicial commissioner S Ok Pandey sentenced the convict, Ajay Kumar Ekka, after finding him to blame below Section 376 (rape) of the IPC,” additional public prosecutor A Ok Ray mentioned.


In her FIR lodged with Khalari police station in June 2017, the survivor mentioned Ekka had sexually exploited her at the pretext of marrying her after you have a role. She alleged the convict had also taken Rs three lakh from her.
