Korean Central News Agency said that the purpose of the "strike drill" was to test the performance of "large-calibre long-range multiple rocket launchers and tactical guided weapons by defence units". Photographs launched showed the weapons can be a short-range, ground-to-ground ballistic missile, said analysts. The drill was supervised by North Korean chief Kim Jong Un.
