MANIPAL: Erasmus Information Office (EIO) and Erasmus Manipal Network had been introduced on the Manipal Centre for European Studies (MCES) on the occasion of Europe Day, on Friday. Speaking on the launch after inaugurating EIO, Angela Brand, TMA Pai Endowment Chair in Public Health Genomics, stated Manipal Academy of Higher Education's efforts in establishing the office "is commendable".
She stated, "In the past 30 years, Erasmus programme of European Union has facilitated mobility of scholars within Europe and also other parts of the world, creating a new wave of internationalization of higher education institutions. India, which has been a beneficiary of these initiatives, should look forward to BRICS countries in the coming years on Erasmus projects".
Manipal Centre for European Studies celebrated Europe Day today. In his particular deal with, Helmut Brand, director of Prasanna School of Public Health, MAHE stated, "EU is caught between dealing with problems within and the rest of the world and is struggling to make its presence with multiple governing structures at times having conflicts. He also spoke about the low-level of awareness about European institutions and upcoming parliamentary elections among people of Europe".
On the occasion, Erasmus Manipal Network (EMN) was introduced. Tejasvini Ahuja and Pranjali Kirloskar, who will lead the EIO and EMN made brief shows about the targets and motion plans of the initiatives.
Neeta Inamdar, head of MCES, informed about the manifold advantages of Erasmus programmes, like International Credit Mobility (ICM), Jean Monnet programmes and Capacity Building in Higher Education. "In last ten years MCES has received grants of around Rs 12 crore, which has benefitted many youngsters and researchers," she maintained. Director International Collaborations, Dr Raghu AR and director, research directorate, N Udupa had been present.
This was adopted through a brainstorming consultation on the EMN actions attended through Erasmus beneficiaries of various institutions in Manipal and led through Eeshani Kochar and Priya Poojary.
