The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) gears as much as rejuvenate and repair Bellandur Lake that hogged limelight for all flawed reasons in the fresh years. The BDA has floated a tender, inviting bidders for making ready a detailed challenge record (DPR) for the rejuvenation and recovery of Bellandur Lake.

“As in step with National Green Tribunal (NGT) order, we've floated the delicate for appointing a challenge management advisor for rejuvenation and recovery of Bellandur Lake. The advisor has to organize a detailed record on the intensity of the lake, amount of the silt to be got rid of and the associated fee for the recovery work,’’ BDA Executive Engineer (East Division) Made Gowda.

Gowda has mentioned that BDA has short indexed five bidders for this function and the bidders have to put up the date completion of DPR.

“We have recommended them to put up technical and fiscal details. The remaining date for submitting the details is June 20. We will select the bidder who quotes the lowest worth for making ready the DPR,’’ says the manager engineer.

Meanwhile, Jagadish Reddy, a resident and member of Varthur Rising Group, has opined that there was no need for the BDA to waft tenders inviting bidders, for the reason that Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had engaged a private advisor in 2009 to organize a DPR and it was ready.

“There is no need for the BDA to organize one more DPR for rejuvenation and recovery of Bellandur Lake. The BDA can save money and time by utilizing that DPR. I need the BDA to make sure quality in recovery and rejuvenation of Bellandur Lake,’’ says Jagadish Reddy.

According to Sonali Singh, Citizen Changemaker, Bellandur Lake, the Indian Institute of Science not too long ago conducted a Sonar-based bathymetric survey of Bellandur and Varthur Lakes while there was no precise knowledge or learn about on the level of silting and sedimentation.

“Researchers have found that the place the intensity of the lakes was 10 meters in 1970s, it had decreased to lower than a meter at many puts. Senior scientist T V Ramachandra, who conducted the learn about, estimates that there's 7.three million cubic meters of silt in the two lakes,’’ says Sonali Singh.

She mentioned the learn about was achieved through the Indian Institute of Science and Madras Engineer Group (MEG) of Indian Army.

“I need the government to take away the silt totally from the lake. If the lake isn't totally desilted, percolation of water will not take place. Ground water desk will not building up if water isn't percolated. The DPR already exists. The BDA may have floated tenders for lake recovery,’’ she mentioned.
