A gradual fragrance of jasmine hangs within the air as one nears the Government Lower Primary School in Ojala village of Bantwal, about 40km from Mangaluru. But the plush, inexperienced trees setting off the crimson tiled-roof construction aren't just for aesthetic impact: the jasmine sold out there can pay for the salaries of the honorary lecturers.
