MANGALURU: Through the Heritage Clubs in faculties, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) has determined to reach out to varsities of Mangaluru. Heritage Club programmes are designed to involve scholars in various activities geared against heritage consciousness and training for finding out a craft, museum visits and conservation.
Subhas Basu, convener, INTACH, Mangaluru Chapter stated, "Work in this regard has already begun. We hope to launch Heritage Clubs in schools at the earliest. We are in the process of identifying schools and teachers who will be trained to run the clubs," he stated.
INTACH's journey to preserve heritage in Mangaluru began about two years ago from Kodial Guttu West. Since its formal inauguration, a number of exhibitions and lectures were held including an exhibition on native built heritage and development subject matter. Some of the events organised integrated heritage walks to Barkur, a talk on computational understanding of 'Karnataka Dravida' Temple builders all the way through Kalyani Chalukyas, workshop on Kaavi Kale and exhibition of photograph stories on Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay.
INTACH hopes to play the most important position all the way through the implementation of Smart City projects and in addition on achieving out to varsities.
