Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL ) safety guards were instructed by way of metro officers not to forestall any passenger travelling with foldable cycles as long as it could actually pass during the baggage scanner. Previously, some guards didn't permit passengers to board the metros with their foldable cycles. They have been most definitely unaware that foldable cycles are, in fact, allowed. Bicycle Mayor Sathya Sankaran contacted metro officers over the topic to clarify the same.
Talking to Bangalore Mirror, BMRCL Chief Public Relations Officer BL Yashavanth Chavan stated, “We have at all times stated that foldable bicycles that may pass thru baggage scanners are allowed in metros.” In reality, BMRCL has been encouraging using bicycles to address first and final mile connectivity issues and has provided YULU rental bicycles on the stations. BMRCL MD Ajay Seth not too long ago told Bangalore Mirror, “We need to persuade people to move from non-public to public delivery. To do that we need to build up the cost of parking. Parking is nearly free inBengaluru lately. There is no area to provide parking at metro stations for the ever-increasing selection of automobiles. We are as an alternative offering parking areas for bicycles, which is a more sustainable option.”
He added that foldable cycles must be allowed in all public transports and added that buses will have to have facilities for commuters to hang their foldable cycles.

Sathya Sankaran stated, “The BMRCL officers stated it will be higher if people travelling with foldable cycles use the final compartment the place provisions for wheelchairs have also been provided. However, common cycles received’t be allowed due to area issues. I too have carried my foldable cycles in metros and in Volvo buses several occasions and urge Bengalureans to hold theirs too.”
He added that foldable cycles must be allowed in all public transports and added that buses will have to have facilities for commuters to hang their foldable cycles.
