Roads caving in across Ahmedabad

The standing committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) mentioned on Thursday of how spaces dug up by means of Torrent Power Ltd in various spaces were not crammed in properly, which ended in cave-ins on those roads. To deal with the issue, AMC Standing Committee Chairman, Amul Bhatt instructed officials to oversee the paintings of Torrent, to ensure the paintings is finished properly, in flip warding off mishaps.

Standing Committee Chairman, Amul Bhatt said, "The roads which saw cave-ins are the ones dug up by Torrent. So, AMC officials have been advised to supervise repairing of roads after the power company's work."

Mitwa Jadeja, resident of Nehrunagar, says, "Torrent workers come and excavate the area, but they do not repair or cover it properly. Hence, the roads become uneven. I feel the AMC must look into this issue and take proper action."

When contacted, a Torrent authentic said, "We do not agree that dug-up areas are not repaired properly by the company. All necessary permissions are taken from AMC before carrying out any such work. Generally, work is done on the edge of the footpath and is properly restored in time. As a responsible company, Torrent has always ensured that no problem is faced by public." AM
