Veteran playwright and actor Girish Karnad passed on to the great beyond on Monday at the age of 81 after a prolonged illness in Bengaluru.
Karnad used to be sick for some time now. A multifaceted character, Karnad has acted in numerous performs and films that experience gained important acclamation.
Karnad, a recipient of Jnanpith Award, used to be also conferred the Padma Shri in 1974 and the Padma Bhushan in 1992. He used to be also a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford University, within the 1960s that earned him his Master of Arts level in philosophy, political science and economics.
His performs, written in Kannada, were translated into English and several Indian languages.
He made his performing debut and screenwriting debut in iconic Kannada film, "Samskara" (1970), in accordance with a novel via UR Ananthamurthy. It used to be directed via Pattabhirama Reddy and the film gained the primary President's Golden Lotus Award for Kannada cinema.
Though he started off his occupation in cinema as an actor, he is very best known as a creator and thinker.

He used to be an eminent playwright with works reminiscent of "Nagmandala", "Yayati" and "Tughlaq", which used to be one of the successfully performed performs, to his credit.
He also labored in Hindi cinema's parallel film movement in motion pictures reminiscent of "Swami", and "Nishant".
His TV credits include "Malgudi Days" during which he performed Swami's father and a hosting stint within the science mag "Turning Point" on Doordarshan within the early 1990s.
In later years, Karnad used to be seen in business films reminiscent of Salman Khan's "Tiger Zinda Hai" and Ajay Devgn-starrer "Shivaay".
