Airport gets canopy cover on airside after end of monsoon

PUNE: The Pune airport finally got a canopy cover at the airside of the airport to offer protection to passengers from showers. While some believe the quilt comes too late as monsoon has already made its go out and the likelihood of rain is slim, others believe: better late than by no means.

However, can a 15-metre cover in opposition to airside actually defend passengers from rain or shine? The verdict shall be out simplest after passengers board flights or deplane amidst heavy rain. "The work on the canopy has been completed and we believe it will protect passengers from all kinds of weather conditions, particularly rain. This year, several passengers had complained of getting wet while boar ding or disembarking from flights. The work on the canopy was taken up on a war footing. It will, to a large extent, save people from getting drenched in rain or scorched under the sun while waiting for their flights," an airport professional instructed TOI. A identical cover is already in place at the different aspect of the terminal development and plans are afoot to increase it as much as the airline counters situated in front of the development.

The airport professional, then again, stated that one will have to wait until the primary half of 2018 for an everlasting arrangement to be in place.

"Though the cover is in place, this can be a temporary arrangement. The cover can't cover all the apron area. For full protection, basically from rains, one must look ahead to the paintings at the aerobridges to recover from by early next yr.
