LUCKNOW: Commuters once once more faced inconvenience as visitors diversions for launch of Lucknow Metro in conjunction with Ganesh idols immersion and protest on Vidhan Sabha Marg resulted in visitors snarls on more than a few routes in the town on Tuesday.
As visitors remained diverted between Transportnagar and Husainganj for Metro launch, people travelling towards Alambagh faced lot of inconvenience.
"I had to reach my office at 11am, but due to diversions I got late by an hour. The diversions had a ripple effect on the connecting routes which saw heavy congestion," mentioned Babul Rastogi, a commuter.
Vehicles coming from Husainganj and Burlington crossing had been diverted towards Lal kuan and Basmandi crossings to achieve Charbagh station. Also, Charbagh trisection from Pan Dariba was barricaded for the movement of VIPs towards Transportnagar Metro station. Lal Kuan stretch remained clogged from 11am to 1pm.
Similarly, cars heading from Kanpur Road towards Transportnagar, Krishnanagar and Alambagh had been diver ted towards Awadh Vihar Yojana and Aashiana Road to achieve Hazratganj by means of Cantt.
Meanwhile, protest by means of Samajwadi Party workers on Vidhan Sabha Marg disrupted visitors movement for over three hours on the path.
Ganesh Visarjan processions also resulted in snarls at Mankameshwar bridge, University Road, Nishatganj Bridge, Jhulelal Vatika Road and Shaheed Smarak Road in the afternoon.
"I could only cover a distance of 250 metres within an hour owing to jam near Sikanderbagh crossing," mentioned Rishab Jaini, a scholar.
