BBMP: 4,280 dengue cases since January, just 604 last year

BENGALURU: In its first admission that the number of dengue circumstances is spiralling threateningly, the BBMP on Wednesday stated town has reported four,280 circumstances so far this 12 months, a stunning seven-fold upward thrust over the previous 12 months.

The emerging number of dengue circumstances and the looming rubbish disaster within the town dominated the BBMP Council assembly on Wednesday.

Chief well being officer (public well being) Dr Lokesh MN informed the council that greater than four,000 dengue circumstances were reported from inside the Palike limits since the starting of this 12 months. He added a caveat that some private hospitals were repor ting suspected dengue circumstances as confirmed ones. The Palike reported 604 dengue circumstances within the 12 months 2016, 1,249 in 2015, and 823 in 2014.

The BBMP's admission came after the opposition created a ruckus demanding a reply from the civic frame on the true number of dengue circumstances in Bengaluru. Until now, the civic frame was in denial concerning the spike.

Padmanabha Reddy , leader of the opposition within the council, stated the civic frame had no knowledge on the number of dengue circumstances reported from its spaces and the voters were in the dark. "I've visited private hospitals where beds were full. If this is the reality, why isn't the BBMP revealing the number of dengue cases? What are they trying to hide," Padmanabha Reddy , leader of the opposition within the council asked.

Dr Lokesh stated the BBMP had taken measures to contain the disease, and platelets were being given to patients free. When the opposition demanded that the BBMP take extra measures and were given no reaction from the well being officer, mayor G Padmavathi directed Dr Lokesh to post a detailed report on the topic.
