Tirupur: The city police on Tuesday booked the authorities of a Madarasa faculty at Rakkiyapalayam right here for branding woman students and bodily harassing them, and arrested considered one of its proprietors.
The motion comes an afternoon after the circle of relatives a victim petitioned the city police commissioner, P Nagarajan, who forwarded the criticism to the South all-woman police.
The police booked the school proprietors, Noushad and Ayesha, and instructor Fathima, below quite a lot of sections, together with Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. Noushad was once later arrested, whilst the rest two are on the run.
According to the police, as many as 41 ladies had enrolled for a five-year route on Quran and Islamic ideas on the Madarasa faculty at Rakkiyapalayam on Kangeyam Road they usually were boarding within the faculty itself.
"I took admission for my daughter, who has completed Class VI, a month back. When I, along with family members, visited the school on Monday the authorities were taking three girls, including my daughter, to a nearby hospital in a car," said E Sathik Batcha, 44, of Pandiyan Nagar.
"When we enquired about it, the authorities replied that my daughter was taken to the hospital with dengue fever. But, later we came to know the girls were subjected to physical harassment," Batcha added.
The preliminary investigation printed that the school used to punish students seriously for violation of rules. "Nasheem Fathima, one of teachers, branded the students by pouring melted wax on their hands. The teacher also used to beat them up with sticks," said a police officer.
The instructor had branded at least 5 students, the officer added.
Batcha, who runs a roadside food stall, said, "My daughter was branded more than 15 times. When I questioned the school management, they didn't give a proper reply," Batcha said.
