SINGAPORE: A 32-year-old Indian-origin bodybuilder in Singapore died of cardiac arrest, an hour after he stepped into the hoop for a "celebrity" bout of Thai kick- boxing, local media reported.
Pradip Subramanian took on YouTube personality Steven Lim, 42, in his first-ever Muay Thai fit at Marina Bay Sands for the inaugural match of the Asian Fighting Championship closing night, The Straits Times reported on Sunday.
Subramanian, president of the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF) Singapore, had replaced singer Sylvester Sim, who pulled out of the fit citing insurance coverage problems.
Both Lim and Sim have been contestants within the first "Singapore Idol" collection in 2004.

The fit used to be called off in five mins after the referee noticed Subramanian's nostril bleeding and declared Lim, 41, the winner via technical knockout.
Subramanian took a few blows on his head however used to be still status after the fit ended. Later he looked to be dropping consciousness whilst in a corner, and needed to be helped out of the hoop and brought to hospital.
A preliminary report released via the Singapore General Hospital discovered Subramanian suffered a cardiac arrest which resulted in his death after the kick-boxing fit.
According to AFC Holding Singapore, SGH's preliminary report stated Subramanian "suffered a cardiac arrest respiratory failure episode which led to his passing".
It added that the overall medical report will probably be released in 30 to 60 days.
Lim paid tribute to Subramanian on Facebook, saying: "Rest in Peace, my really truly respected fearless warrior and fighter."
Event organisers Axseed Events and Muse Fitness Club, Singapore expressed unhappiness.
In a observation, they affirmed "our support to Subramanian's family, friends and associates".
The incident left netizens shocked who wondered the organisers' decision to incorporate Subramanian on the closing second after Sim withdrew from the fit.
