Jharkhand 'starvation' death: Security to girl's mother after she alleges abuse by villagers

RANCHI: The state executive on Sunday provided police security to the family of Koyli Devi, mother of the 11-year-old girl who died allegedly of starvation final month. She alleged that the villagers had abused and threatened her for 'bringing bad identify' to the village, Karimati, in Simdega district of Jharkhand.

Santoshi Devi, the girl, died on September 28 in the district allegedly because of lack of ration as her family was once refused ration beneath the Public Distribution System (PDS) because of non-linkage in their ration card with Aadhaar card.


However, the administration in Simdega district had refused to buy the idea and blamed malaria for the minor's dying.


"I have been living in fear, villagers abused me and asked me to leave the village," said Koyli while chatting with information company ANI.


Soon after the document got here into media, state executive swung into action and introduced a damage regulate with state food minister Saryu Roy denying the mandatory linkage of ration card with Aadhaar.


Earlier, a central probe was once ordered in the case through Union Food and Public Distribution minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
