Lioness Nandini gives birth to two underweight cubs at Kanpur zoo

KANPUR: Asiatic lioness Nandini for the second time within the 12 months gave beginning to cubs in Kanpur zoo. The two cubs who were born on Monday night time are underweight and below consistent monitoring of the zoo vets.

It was on April 7 that Nandini had given beginning to 3 cubs of which whilst one had expired, one other was stillborn. He mentioned that the CCTV cameras put in within the premises of Nandini are giving round-the-clock footages of the activities of the lioness and the cubs.


Expressing happiness zoo vet RK Singh mentioned that for the second time within the 12 months Nandini has given beginning to cubs. He mentioned that it was on April 7 in 2017 that Nandini had given beginning to 3 cubs of which one was a stillborn and one had expired. He mentioned that the lone surviving cub named Sundari was hand-fed to make it survive. The efforts made borne end result and the surviving cub Sundari is now over six months of age and weighs over 21 kilograms.


"We are keeping an eye over the cubs and Nandini. The lioness is feeding the cubs at regular intervals.
