Mehbooba Mufti: J&K situation improving, violence coming down

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday stated state of affairs in the state has advanced a lot as violence has come down significantly.

She stated this after keeping an hour-long meeting with Union home minister Rajnath Singh, three days after the appointment of former Intelligence Bureau director Dineshwar Sharma because the special representative who will dangle talks with all stakeholders in the state.

"Situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved as violence has come down a lot," she advised journalists right here.

The chief minister stated she discussed with the house minister at the announcement of a distinct representative for Jammu and Kashmir, safety state of affairs in the state and more than a few construction issues.

Mehbooba stated an in depth discussions was additionally held at the Rs 80,000 crore bundle introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015.

"Funds are getting released and many development works are going on. Works on AIIMS in the state is also going on," she stated.


Apart from the house minister and the manager minister, senior officials of the house ministry and the Jammu and Kashmir executive attended the meeting, which lasted for roughly 45 minutes.


Singh and Mehbooba later had a one-on-one meeting for roughly 15 minutes.


On Monday, the house minister had introduced Sharma's appointment as the government's representative for wearing ahead a "sustained dialogue" with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir, in a fresh transfer aimed toward bringing peace to the stricken state.


Singh stated on Tuesday that Sharma would come to a decision whom to engage with for a resolution of the Kashmir issue.
