Tirupur tightens anti-dengue steps, imposes Rs 6.24L fine on households

Tirupur: As a part of its efforts to curb the unfold of dengue, the town corporation and the district management has so far issued show-cause notices to 1,406 families and industrial institutions around the district so far for preserving their premises unhygienic.

Tirupur was once the most affected district within the state because it noticed at least 350 cases of dengue, of which 20 died, health division officers stated.

The district management and other involved departments were growing consciousness about dengue, identifying and destroying mosquito breeding websites and providing remedy to patients, to restrict its injury within the district. But, the lukewarm reaction from the general public pressured the native bodies and the health division to factor display cause notices and also high-quality the violators.

"We have issued 901 show cause notices to the households, commercial establishments and under-construction buildings with potential mosquito breeding grounds and garbage piled up on their premises. In October alone, 176 notices were handed out," stated the town corporation commissioner, M Ashokan.

"We have collected a total fine of Rs 6.24 lakh from violators. On Monday, we slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on a private hospital on Kangeyam road for failing to comply with the anti-dengue measures. It was the highest amount of fine collected from a single establishment. The households were fined anywhere between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000," he added.

Another senior corporation legit stated most families and industrial institutions did not submit any resistance in paying the high-quality. "They responded immediately by cleaning their premises," the legit stated.

In reality, the decision to impose high-quality noticed many families, who were earlier reluctant, following the anti-dengue measures.


The health division, meanwhile, has issued display cause notices to 204 families and other institutions within the rural spaces, stated S Jayanthi, deputy director of health services and products, Tirupur.


As consistent with the Tamil Nadu Public Health Act, the dep. can impose most effective Rs 200 as high-quality on individuals who impede works on eradicating mosquito breeding grounds. But the district management has requested the dep. to impose a high-quality of Rs 2000 through treating dengue as particular case, stated a health division legit.


In rural spaces, the revenue division has also imposed fines at the violators, the legit added.
