Two cousins arrested for stealing Rs 7L from shopDuo held for Rs 6.75L theft from shop near Quarter Gate
PUNE: The Samarth police on Wednesday arrested two cousins for allegedly stealing Rs 6.75 lakh from a rexine fabric store at Quarter Gate. One of them, who works at the store, had entered the store with the assistance of a reproduction key.
Police have recovered Rs 6.37 lakh of the stolen cash from Amin Akbar Maulvi (23) of Sayyednagar in Hadapsar. "Amin has confessed to have committed the theft by using a duplicate key which he got made with the help of his cousin, Shoaib Haroon Shaikh (25), a resident of Ghorpade Peth," senior police inspector Rajendra Mohite stated. Both had been remanded in police custody till October 6 by means of a magisterial courtroom.
Salisbury Park resident Abedin Mohammad Rajkotwala, who owns the Bombay Rexin store, discovered his store burgled on September 14 when he reached there as standard to open the status quo. He discovered that Rs 6.75 lakh used to be missing from the money counter.
After Rajkotwala lodged an FIR, a group led by means of police inspector (crime) Satish Chavan began investigating the matter. A detailed scrutiny of the scene of the crime brought on the police to believe that the robbery used to be the handiwork of an insider who used to be somewhat familiar with the interiors of the store.
