GREATER NOIDA: Nine years after Gautam Budh University (GBU) was once inaugurated in the town, its vice-chancellor on Monday announced plans to submit an offer for acquiring reputation from University Grants Commission (UGC) and accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The transfer is an effort to obtain grants for the school, besides creating a greater logo symbol.
Speaking to TOI, vicechancellor Prabhat Kumar, who is also the Meerut divisional commissioner and YEIDA chairman, mentioned, "Both proposals will be submitted by end of next month. According to a UGC notification, no university or college is eligible for central grants, unless accredited by NAAC. Once we have both in place, it will raise the overall quality of higher education at GBU."
Kumar mentioned the college is at the moment students' fees and budget from the two authorities of Noida and Greater Noida. "An institution of such scale should be used to its full potential, which is not happening," he mentioned.
Ever since its 2008 launch, the institute, with a campus unfold over 454 acres, which got here at a cost of Rs 1,960 crore, has been dogged through allegations of irregularities in appointments, purchase of apparatus and extra. A probe through Lokayukta Justice (retired) N Okay Mehrotra in July 2013 had revealed GBU have been became a centre for raising money through a couple of corrupt officers.
