Youth who stole mobile phone brutally killed

Tirupur: A 19-year-old employee of a personal lodge was once brutally killed through his roommates after recuperating from him some of the two cell phones long gone missing from the room on Kuppanna Chettiyar Street right here on Monday.

According to police, D Rajesh, a resident of Arcot in Vellore district, was once crushed up for hours with sticks and household articles ahead of his roommates strangulated him on Monday early morning. The police have arrested six persons in reference to the incident.

Rajesh, the police said, was once employed with a personal lodge on Palladam street. He was once provided accommodation in a room on Kuppanna Chettiyar Street, in conjunction with 14 other labourers.


Recently, two cell phones had long gone missing from the room. Suspecting that Rajesh may have stolen each the cell phones, the roommates wondered him. But he denied any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, all left for their local places for Diwali vacations.


When Rajesh returned on Sunday morning, roommates recovered some of the two missing cell phones from him. Irked, they tied him and started to overcome him.


The attack that started on Sunday afternoon endured till middle of the night, when the roommates were under the influence of alcohol. They additionally strangulated him, the police said. Rajesh, in the meantime, succumbed to his injures. The roommates got here to find out about it only on Monday morning. When the scoop reached the South police, they arrested Stephen Raj, Rajiv, Subhash, Parineeth, Vivek and Ajith, who were later remanded in judicial custody till November 7.
