Belagavi: The district administration has formally invited Union minister and Uttara Kannada MP Ananth Kumar Hegde to Tipu Jayanti celebrations despite his request not to be invited to the fete.
Deputy commissioner S Ziyaullah mentioned the names of all MPs and MLAs were mentioned in the invitation card as per the protocol. "Not all guests mentioned in the card attend the event. The administration hasn't received any instruction from the government in this regard," he mentioned.
The Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency accommodates a big part of Karwar district, Khanapur and Kittur assembly constituencies in Belagavi district. Since the two assembly constituencies come under the constituency, the district administration has put Hegde's title in each district-level government tournament as a visitor, following the protocol.
In a letter addressed to the state chief secretary and Uttara Kannada deputy commissioner, Hegde had directed them not to include his title in invites to mark the start anniversary of Tipu Sultan on November 10.
Hedge has been invited as a distinct invitee for the programme to be held at Kumar Gandharv Rang Mandir in Belagavi on November 10. It has already printed the invitation playing cards with Hegde's title.
Take precautionary measures, IGP tells SPs
IGP (Northern Range) K Ramachandra Rao has suggested all 5 SPs under his vary to take precautionary measures to handle legislation and order all the way through Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
